  2. In terms of the knife, the CS style is only really good for keyboard users. The whole issue of melee attacks have really been brought about by Modern Warfare 2, which began the trend of buffing the knife, which MAG then replicated. Previous games like CoD2 had a nice short range, and similar to CS, you could actually end up in a proper knife duel, where good players could dodge the other person's attack. Naturally the fact that this game will have different armor types, means the insta-knife-kills would be unfair towards heavier players, but I do think they should stick to the quick-knife mechanic - which then does different amounts of damage depending on where you hit a player (back, sides, front, etc)

I also noticed that the knife in the devblog was made by a specific faction, meaning that there will probably be more than four different ones. This means that where MAG and MW gave players the ability to buff their melee without much compromise, Dust can make the knives so that they have different trade-offs, which would be amazing. For instance the longer ranged, heavier players could pick a knife with longer range, but lower damage, to fend off pesky backstabbers, whilst more light, stealthy players could go for a knife with shorter range, but that does more damage.

    1. Yeah as mentioned in the cast - knife will probably have a lot more "meat" to it than standard knife in any other shooter. Depending on armor, specialization, knife type itself and all that. Will be very interesting to see how those things work and also see if you can actually go ninja on people at some point should you desire to :)

  3. Just one thing, you said that we haven't seen the War Barge flying, but we actually got a shot of that in the "DUST 514: First Glimpse 2009" trailer, Its the very first thing you see in that trailer. And there's a bunch of EVE ships that seem to be covering/defending it while flying by its side :)

    1. Indeed! But remember - that War Barge is from Ishukone coroporation - NPC corporation that may be there just for the sake of trailer :) We still didn't see actual player made and driven Barge - that's what we meant :)

    1. Considering it's nearly an hour long and it's just us speculating, I don't think there will be a transcript for this one.

  6. OMG. Invite me next time too to the Cast!!!

Sitting in the MCC: I remember the time in BF when command the Squads and stuff. And set Air Strikes. Or like in Natural Selection, sitting in the Commander thingy, drop medkits, buildings, armors. That was all fun for me and if a Commander will have alot of work to coordinate the players in Dust514, it will be fun again.

And i think the MCC in Dust ist pretty going to be like the MCC in Battlefield2142.

MTACs: Well i only hope it's NOT going to be like in Planetside. When this Mech have been invented, everyone drived one and this thing was so overpowerd. They can jump over walls, they can fit to destroy everything not matter if AA, AT or Infantry.

  7. I dont know why you stated us having to transport resources as a bad thing for console gamers... casuals yes, but then it was expanded to all console gamers. I want that indepth game, i cannot wait to see the faces on some sore ass Eve corp/alliance that got too cocky and underestimated the competitive console community.

We recognize espionage in this game and we recognize the industrial aspects. Underestimate your enemies and your doomed for a swift kick up the ass.

  8. Maybe Microsoft is being slow on validating the podcast because there is some resentment of not getting in on this when they had the chance.
